Incast Mitigation TCP (IMTCP)

چکیده
The TCP Incast congestion happens in data center network, when multiple data senders simultaneously communicate with a single receiver namely in many-toone pattern. The regular TCP does not perform well in high-speed and low-latency network. To mitigate this problem,we propose a novel enhanced TCP protocol called IMTCP (Incast Mitigation TCP ). IMTCP leverages ECN with two-bits to provide explicit feedback of the congestion level to the end hosts. Then, the end hosts can adjust theirs congestion window before the congestion becoming severe. The implementation and experiment results demonstrate that IMTCP performs well in mitigating Incast.

A Simultaneous Inline Measurement Mechanism for Capacity and Available Bandwidth of End-to-End Network Path
We previously proposeda new version of TCP, called Inline measurement TCP (ImTCP), in [2, 3]. The ImTCP sender adjusts the transmission intervals of data packets and then utilizes the arrival intervals of ACK packets for available bandwidth estimation. This type of active measurement is preferred because the obtained results are as accurate as those of other conventional types of active measure...
متن کاملDesign, Implementation and Evaluation of Icmp-based Available Network Bandwidth Measurement Based on Imtcp
We propose a method to measure available network bandwidth using the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP). The recently proposed ImTCP technique uses Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) data packets and the corresponding acknowledgement responses to measure the available bandwidth between sender and receiver. Since ImTCP needs to change the sender’s TCP implementation, it needs modification...
متن کاملUnderstanding TCP Incast and Its Implications for Big Data Workloads
TCP incast is a recently identified network transport pathology that affects many-to-one communication patterns in datacenters. It is caused by a complex interplay between datacenter applications, the underlying switches, network topology, and TCP, which was originally designed for wide area networks. Incast increases the queuing delay of flows, and decreases application level throughput to far...

The Internet of Things (IoT) has gained popularity in recent years. Today's IoT applications are now increasingly deployed in cloud platforms to perform Big Data analytics. In cloud data center networks (DCN), TCP incast usually happens when multiple senders simultaneously communicate with a single receiver. However, when TCP incast happens, DCN may suffer from both throughput collapse for TCP ...
متن کاملImTCP: TCP with an inline measurement mechanism for available bandwidth
We introduce a novel mechanism for actively measuring available bandwidth along a network path. Instead of adding probe traffic to the network, the new mechanism exploits data packets transmitted in a TCP connection (inline measurement). We first introduce a new bandwidth measurement algorithm that can perform measurement estimates quickly and continuously and is suitable for inline measurement...
